As a mother of three, I know how important it is to strengthen your core and my core is in need of a bit of tune-up. I had a cesarean with my last birth that left me fearful of hitting the gym and getting back in fighting form.
But now my baby will be one-year-old next month (how did that happen?) and it’s time for this mama to get a solid core!
Here are three reasons I want to strengthen my core:
1. A Strong Core Protects Your Organs
Like I stated before, I had a c-section with my last birth and there’s nothing quite like having your lower abdominal sliced open, having your organs removed, deliver a baby and get put back together again like Humpty Dumpty. This was the main reason I was scared to death to walk, let alone pick up a weight at the gym. But once my recovery period had lapsed, my doctor strongly encouraged that I get back to working out like I had throughout my pregnancy and slowly begin to add weights. She told me that having strong core muscles will help ensure that my internal organs stay protected. That’s a win-win combination!
3. Have Beautiful Posture and Banish Back Pain
Speaking of back pain, I suffered from it for the first time in my entire life after the birth of my third baby. I’m sure carrying three babies to term did quite the job on my back. It’s true that suffering from back pain is a common side effect of a weak core. Did you know that building up your core muscles also improves your posture? I’m a classically trained ballerina and know first hand that a strong core leads to beautiful posture. When you present yourself with excellent posture, the whole world will notice.
5. It’s Always Swimsuit Season in Florida
You don’t have to wear a bikini to want a rocking swimsuit body, but that mama baby pouch always puts a frown on my face. I want a healthy, strong, fit body that makes me feel awesome!
In order to achieve a strong core and flat tummy, I’m going to participate in first of several 30 Day Ab Challenges. Mamas, join me in this challenge to achieve a body that childless women would be envious of!
I’d love for you to join me in my mission for rock solid body!
