Hello Sunshine! If you’re anything like me you like to get the most out of any and every product you buy, even if it’s a bargain. I usually buy department store brands for my skincare and makeup, but sometimes you have to live with champagne taste on a beer budget.
So I am having a battle of the liquid eyeliners with two of the least expensive eyeliners available. I tested NYX Studio Liquid Eyeliner and New York Color Liquid Eyeliner to see which was the better product.
NYX Studio Liquid Eyeliner
NYX Studio Liquid Eyeliner ($4.50)
I decided to try Studio Liquid Liner in extreme black. I found it Ulta, but you can buy it at Walmart or online. According to their website, “Transform your look in seconds with this super-pigmented eye liner that highlights eyes with an electrifying stroke of color. The fine brush tip allows for precision application, and can be used to create lines of varying thickness. Go subtle or go glam.”
What I Liked:
- Easy to apply
- The tip makes it easy to draw a straight line or dramatic eye
- Bold colors available: Extreme black, blue, purple, coffee, green, silver, gold, pink, smokey gray, sapphire, sky blue and plum purple.
What I Disliked:
- The line rubbed off easily when I curled my eyelashes
- If I blinked or sneezed the eyeliner would smear all over my face
- Extremely long drying time
New York Color Liquid Eyeliner
New York Color Liquid Eyeliner ($2.99)
I purchased New York Color Liquid Eyeliner in pearlized black. The only two places I have found N.Y.C. products are Target and online. So what does the New York Color website say? “Ever dreamed of having Audrey Hepburn’s glamorous look? NYC New York Color Liquid Eyeliner infuses your eyes with the intesity they crave. This staple liner can do fine or bold lines without the fuss. With its mistake-free applicator, elongate your lash line to shape and define your eyes like never before.”
What I Liked:
- Beautiful pearlized black color
- Easy to create a simple daytime look or dramatic party look
- The size of the tube
What I Disliked:
- The product seems to dry up quickly
- The bristles are really long
- The bristles would separate and I would have to put back in the tube to push them back together
So which brand wins in the eyeliner battle? New York Color Liquid Eyeliner! It stays on all day and there’s no smudging or rubbing off. It’s easy to apply and makes great simple lines or creates a dramatic look if that’s what your heart desires. And for $2.99, you can’t beat it. If you hate it, toss it!
