Tour Through Blogland

Hello, Sunshine! I was invited by my friend Michelle from Our Three Peas to be a part of the Tour Through Blogland. Michele is the genius behind Wine’d Down Wednesday and I’m honored each week to be a part of it. The Tour Through Blogland is an opportunity to discover new blogs. I love to learn what bloggers are passionate about, what’s happening in their lives and how they can create and accomplish things I could never dream of. I’ve made some amazing connections through blogging and I love being a part of this giant community.

Who Am I?

I’m a former ballerina who spent some time in the modeling world and dreamt of becoming a publicist in Nashville. The whole Nashville thing hasn’t happened yet, but I went to Nashville last year and fell in love. Hard. Now, I’m a realtor who loves all things girlie. I love high heels, dresses, makeup, pretty hair, water parks, traveling and most importantly, making memories with my beautiful family.

Tour Through Blogland

What are you working on?

Everything and anything! I have such a full plate, but I love it! I’m trying to up my YouTube game and I’m working on my lighting and background. For some reason my house is ridiculously dark and good (any) light is hard to come by.

I’m also working on sharing more fashion and beauty posts because I really love to dress up! I’m also sharing my weekly progress on Kayla Itsines’ Bikini Body Guide.  I need JD to step up his photography game so I can share better pictures with you guys.

How does your work differ from others of its genre?

I’m a lifestyle blogger. My vision for My Rays of Sunshine is for it to be place that everyone feels welcome and doesn’t feed to a particular niche. I felt lost reading blogs that were supposed to be geared towards me. I may be a 30-something mama, but there’s more to me than being a mom. There’s a girl inside who has her own passions, desires and interests. I write for people who love life and want to live it to the fullest.

A flower doesn't think of competing with the flower next to it. It just blooms.

Why do you write/create what you do?

So I think you’re asking me Why My Rays of Sunshine? Because honestly it’s so easy to focus on whatever crappy situation is currently happening in your life. Instead of focusing on the negative, I make it a goal to appreciate the gift of another day and another chance to make something amazing happen. I want to encourage the new mama who is scared to death that she’s going to screw up her child’s life because she doesn’t follow everyone’s advice and give peace to a woman who may have a medical diagnosis that Dr. Google said is going to bring down her child’s quality of life.

Be happpy, it drives people crazy

How does your writing/creating process work?

I’m a typical type A personality with my job. Believe it or not, it’s really stressful and entertaining at the same time. If I don’t stay on top of my game with all of my paperwork and demands of clients, investors and tenants then I’d be in a big a mess. My Rays of Sunshine on the other hand is where I can simply express whatever I want to, whenever I want to.

I find inspiration from other bloggers, friends, the news, my family, and of course, music! If we’d all just take the time to embrace our surroundings, we’d find so many creative and wonderful things happening around us.

Life Made Sweeter Is Your Next Stop

Thank you for joining me on my tour through blogland and learning a bit more about me. The next stop on our tour will be with Kelly from Life Made Sweeter. Kelly is an absolute sweetheart and I look forward to every single one of her posts. She has a delicious blog where she shares her amazing recipes and weaves in stories about her darling family. I wish I had the creativity to craft her delicious recipes. I love her recipes so much that I had her guest post for me and I hope to have her back. Be sure to check her out next Monday on the tour!

Kelly- Life Made Sweeter

I’m still a girl trying to do it all.

What makes a blog interesting to you?

  • I wanted to be a publicist in Nashville too! I almost went to a music business school up there, but decided I could probably use that $60,000 somewhere else (or rather my parents could). I love your blog because it is a lifestyle blog. Not too many workouts, recipes or tips, but a nice balance of everything!

Did you want to go to Belmont? That’s where I wanted to go, but I couldn’t get a large enough scholarship to cover the tuition. My husband graduated from Brentwood High School in Nashville and really liked it. I want to buy a small loft downtown and visit whenever I want to. It’ll be my bachelorette pad!

      • Yes! I was accepted into their program and then found out they didn’t have scholarships for transfer students (I was a Junior at the time), soooo no Belmont for me : ( I still love Nashville though! I’ll go in with you on this loft idea haha.

It’s a deal! It would be so amazing to walk to lower Broadway and just listen to amazing live music every night. I’m a music junkie!

  • Kelly says:

Aaaw I loved reading this post and learning more about you Chastity! I love coming here and always reading all of your motivational, positive and encouraging posts. Nashville sounds wonderful, I’d love to visit there someday too 🙂 I’m so glad to have met you through blogging and thank you so much for the sweet and kind words and for nominating me sweetie 🙂

    • Chastity says:

You’re welcome, Kelly! I’m so happy to have met you as well. It looks like a lot of us want to visit Nashville. Someone should schedule a blogging conference there!

  • Mrs.AOK says:

LOVE THIS!! I would love to be a publicist, exciting work I’m sure. If you dream it, believe it, you can DO IT!

I love your lifestyle blog, I’m always eager to see what you will share, plus I’ve learned about many different things through your spot here on the WWW. thanks!

I loved learning about you on your tour. The blogging world is kinda of amazing. I love the friends I’ve made. xoxo

  • I loved reading this about you! And I didn’t know you had a YouTube channel! Very cool. And I’ve always loved that post you wrote for new mamas, I still remember it because it really struck a cord with me!

    • Chastity says:

Aww thank you, Jessica. I’m glad you liked that post. I felt like it needed to be said. It makes me so sad to see mothers (and everyone in general) stating that they know what’s best and that everyone else is wrong. There’s much bigger problems to focus on.
