I used to wash my hair everyday because I had no idea that it was bad for my hair or scalp. I have a lot of hair, but it’s fine and can get oily. I’ve learned that when you was your hair daily you’re teaching your hair and scalp that it doesn’t need to control the oil on its own. I’m teaching my hair (like my kids) to be more responsible for its actions and using dry shampoo to absorb any oil post wash days.
I Woke Up Like This {With The Help Of Dry Shampoo}
Finding the best dry shampoo for your hair can be a daunting task. It’s kind of like finding the right sulfate and paraben-free shampoo can seem like a trial of never-ending bad purchases.
My number one tip to remember when using dry shampoo: apply it the night before. This allows the product to absorb the oil overnight. If you forget to do it the night before do it ASAP in the morning. Your dry shampoo won’t work as well if you spray it on right before you style your hair or leave for the day.
Not Your Mother’s Clean Freak Refreshing Dry Shampoo
During a weekly grocery shopping trip I spotted Not Your Mother’s Clean Freak Refreshing Dry Shampoo on the shelf. It’s really reasonably priced, so I decided to give it a try.
Pros: it goes on evenly, it’s cost efficient, and it doesn’t smell funky.
Cons: it doesn’t absorb as well as other dry shampoos, my can quit working halfway through, and I had to use a lot of it to absorb the oil
Verdict: it’s good for a post-gym, not going anywhere day.
Herbal Essences Naked Dry Shampoo
I was given a sample of Herbal Essences Naked Dry Shampoo a few years ago and I really wasn’t a big fan of it. It goes on clear making it difficult to spot where I sprayed it and it had a funky smell to it. Fast-forward a couple of years and I think they may have improved the formula.
Pros: it doesn’t take a lot of product to work and has a light scent.
Cons: it still goes on clear and if you apply too much you end-up with white splotches on your hair.
Verdict: it works, but it’s not my favorite.
Batiste Dry Shampoo
Batiste Dry Shampoo is my favorite dry shampoo! I buy it every single time I’m at Ulta (I get extra giddy when it’s buy 1 get 1 half 1/2 off) or when I see it T.J. Maxx and Marshalls. This dry shampoo is ah-maz-ing!
Pros: you can buy this in a variety of colors (blondes, brunettes and red hair formulas) and scents, a little goes a long way and works unbelievably well!
Cons: it costs more than the other two I’ve tried and that’s it!
Verdict: I can’t live without this dry shampoo. It seriously rocks!
If I had to recommend one dry shampoo for you to try it would be Batiste Dry Shampoo. I love that the blonde sprays in a light blonde shade and is great for when I have waited way too long to get my roots touched up. If you’re looking for a less expensive option try Herbal Essences Naked Dry Shampoo.
Cheers to better looking post wash hair days!
