On New Year’s Day everyone makes New Year’s Resolutions. I’m going to loose weight. I’m going to start a business. I’m going to take my dream vacation. You can’t wait to share resolutions. Derek Siver’s says it’s better to keep your goals a secret.
So, maybe I’m not taking Mr. Siver’s advice. I didn’t make it my New Year’s resolution to loose weight but hey, who couldn’t loose a few pounds? My brother-in-law has been praising P90x since Thanksgiving and at the beginning of the year he gave us and his parents P90X. (So you know, I’m not trying to become your coach or sell any Beach Body Fitness products.)
Anyway, I completed the majority of my business taxes (that’s another story) so I am officially giving P90X a try. I do workout on a regular basis and go to the gym three to five days a week. My husband and I have talked about having a third child, so I’ve decided to try and firm-up my tummy from my two previous pregnancies. I’m not overweight, but I do have post baby sags.
Yesterday was my first day of P90X. The workout consisted of the back and shoulder routine along with abs. I actually found both routines easy to follow and each routine went by quickly. The back and shoulder routine requires a lot of push-ups, but all of the Pilates and yoga classes I’ve been taking are paying off. I was surprised at how many real push-ups I could do.
After I completed the P90X workout I thought I would be miserable today. Yesterday I went to Pilates in the morning and did P90X in the afternoon, but I felt great today. I was a little sore, but nothing unbearable.
Today I completed the plyometric routine. I found my self getting bored with it at times. Weird I know. Boredom and distractions are my biggest obstacle with at home workouts. But, I pushed trough and completed the task at hand. Hopefully I can stay focused tomorrow.
I’ve been starving the last two days, so I guess that would be my biggest complaint. It must be from all the extra calories I’ve burned.
I don’t know if I broke Mr. Siver’s rule, but I will try to give you weekly updates on my P90X experience and let you know if it works for me.
Have a fabulous week!
