‘Time is a Thief I Would Rob’

‘Time is a Thief I Would Rob’

I remember as a kid my parents, aunts and uncles, and grandparents always saying, “time flies by.” Of course, as a teenager time could not go fast enough. There were so many milestones to hit: sweet sixteen and driving a car, graduating high school, going off to college, turning 21, graduating college and making a name for myself in the world. But now I’m a mommy and I understand the statement, “time flies by” often uttered by my elders. I see how fast my children are growing and changing each and every day. I told my brother-in-law one day how the kids’ birthdays are bittersweet. On one hand I am so blessed to have healthy, happy, amazing children, and on the other hand, they’re one year closer to moving out. I always shed a few tears on their birthdays. I cried almost everyday the entire summer before my oldest...

Little Dancing Diva

Little Dancing Diva

Dancer’s are the athletes of God – Albert Einstein My 1-year-old daughter is girl after my own heart. I was a ballerina for over 20 years. She hears music and the dancing begins. The huge smile and pure happiness in her movements spark my soul. My four-year-old son can’t help but join in. They twirl round and round until one falls to the ground. Rides in the family car are filled with giggles. The two car seats are bouncing to their lively dancing. I can’t help but smile as I listen to their laughter and singing to the songs on the radio. Little Miss Diva is a natural. Today she was sleeping in her car seat when Usher’s OMG came on. Her little legs were bouncing along to the beat. Gotta love it! I wake-up everyday looking forward to the joy my Little Dancing Diva brings to my life....

To Meat or Not to Meat?

To Meat or Not to Meat?

Two weeks ago, my husband decided he was no longer consuming cow, chicken or turkey. Why? He said he needed more brain food. Okay, no hamburgers or steak. I was heartbroken. I’m from the wild west where we eat our New York Strips and are damn proud of it.  But, being the supporting, loving wife that I am, I decided to sacrifice eating red meat. When I was younger and gave up red meat, I became really sick and thin. Now that I am older, who knows? I still need to loose baby weight, so I am willing to give red meat again. Then I discovered he was not consuming milk, cheese, yogurt, eggs or any dairy products. Coming from a man who lived on cheese I was shocked. Shocked I tell you. We’ve been drinking soy milk for two weeks. The smell gags me and I don’t think...

"I can’t even tell you how many people just say ‘Oh, get an abortion.’ Like it’s not a big deal."

"I can’t even tell you how many people just say ‘Oh, get an abortion.’ Like it’s not a big deal."

I don’t know anything about Kourtney Kardashian, but she recently announced her pregnancy to the world. Kourtney said after consulting her doctors on the risks of abortion, and reading horror stories on the Internet, she did some soul-searching. “For me, all the reasons why I wouldn’t keep the baby were so selfish,” she told People. “It wasn’t like I was raped, it’s not like I’m 16. I’m 30 years old, I make my own money, I support myself, I can afford to have a baby. And I’m with someone who I love.” I can relate to Kourtney, I had an unplanned pregnancy. As Kourtney said,“I can’t even tell you how many people just say “’Oh, get an abortion.’ Like it’s not a big deal.” Guess what! It is a big deal.  As a person of faith, I have fallen short many times, but I’m forgiven by God’s grace. I...
