“Walking through my house at night to get to Bryn’s room should be considered an Olympic Sport!”

When I woke-up Monday morning I saw this as a friend of mine’s status on facebook.  It shouldn’t have made me smile, but it did. I was relieved to know it wasn’t only me. Here are some of the other comments left:

“Ha, ha. I know that all too well.”

“Yay, it’s not just my house.”

“I hear ya!”

“I feel like a ping pong ball bouncing off walls and dodging toys! Last night I tripped over a Tangled Doll!”

“You should try to walk around in David’s room, LEGO’s everywhere! I think it gets worse every year…”

“I stepped straight from a tiny japanese action figure onto a monster truck last night. Sometimes I feel like the toys are alive and trying to get me.”

I’ll admit the toy tornado in my house drives my CRAZY. My husband always tells me to embrace the mess. Grrrr.

I let out a sigh of relief every time the mess is gone and I’m not performing gymnastics and contortions on a daily basis to get from one room to another. And because we’re moving, the house is a bigger mess than usual.

I’ve spent time checking out toy organization ideas on Pinterest and home décor websites. I now have some great clutter organization ideas for our new house, but I’m thrilled to know I’m not the only one out there fighting toy tornados.

“As soon as Mommy finishes making a pee-pee we will make ham and eggs, okay?” I told my adorable two-year-old daughter.

Wrongly assuming I could make a fast tinkle and start breakfast in under a minute, I heard the sound that made me dash for the kitchen. To most people the sound of the microwave turning on doesn’t strike the fear of God in them, but all I could think of was, “Oh, God. The house is going to burn down!”

The night before, the kids and I made Christmas sugar cookies decked out with frosting and sprinkles. I gently wrapped the cookies in foil and stored them in the microwave to keep them from drying out while the frosting settled onto the cookies.

By the time I reached the microwave, the burning was well under way. My innocent looking two-year-old stood by the microwave proudly proclaiming she started breakfast as I was feverishly grabbing the burning foil, frosting and cookies out of the microwave. Luckily, she only managed to leave a few frosting burn marks on the brand-new microwave and we didn’t burn down the house. I don’t think our landlord would have appreciated that very much.

I guess I better start a potty schedule for me.

Does anyone know how to take off burn marks or cover them up?

It looks like I’ll be burning the midnight oil on Christmas Eve.

When a Christmas package was delivered to our house, my 2-year-old princess ran, grabbed her keys and tried with all her might to carve the box open.

After her failure to open the box, she begged me to open it for her. I had to look inside and tell her the store sent an empty box. Needless to say, the screaming and crying began, followed by the comment, “Come on man.”

With her persistence no wrapped Christmas gift will be safe or untouched under our Christmas tree. Luckily, big brother is at school all day and it is much easier to hide his presents. Maybe he’ll keep the Christmas gift mystery alive, but I highly doubt it.

I hope I have a lot of hiding places and plenty of boxes to hide their presents!

It’s been a rough week at our house. My son and I have both been suffering from terrible head colds. After missing two days of school, little man decided going to bed early would be a good idea.

After tucking him in, I decided it was time to tackle the dirty dishes piling-up in the sink. My 17-month-old daughter was busy entertaining herself with her dolls, our dog and Winnie-the-Pooh. Halfway through the pile, I looked up to check on my princess.

Sitting quietly on the floor, she was thumbing through her brother’s Cars wallet. She saw me looking at her so she threw the wallet to the side. Then, she stood up and ran off laughing with a devilish look on her face. To my disbelief, she was running with his cash in her hands and stuffed in her diaper.

I was shocked! Here was my little angelic baby stealing from her brother. Yes, she is a baby but she knew what she was doing. She ran to her play kitchen where her purse was and stashed the cash in there.

My jaw dropped. What just happened? I went to confiscate the purse and she took off running with it. By this time I was laughing so hard that she turned around to see what I was laughing at. Now was my chance. I swooped in and grabbed the cash.

Big brother’s money is safely hidden from the hands of a little thief. I have to give the baby credit, she knows what she wants and she is sneaky enough to get it.

Boys out there, take this as a warning, when you see my beautiful daughter in 16 years know that she will not stop until she gets a hold of your wallet. The way to her heart. . . cold, hard, cash.

Dancer’s are the athletes of God – Albert Einstein

My 1-year-old daughter is girl after my own heart. I was a ballerina for over 20 years.

She hears music and the dancing begins. The huge smile and pure happiness in her movements spark my soul.

My four-year-old son can’t help but join in. They twirl round and round until one falls to the ground.

Rides in the family car are filled with giggles. The two car seats are bouncing to their lively dancing. I can’t help but smile as I listen to their laughter and singing to the songs on the radio.

Little Miss Diva is a natural. Today she was sleeping in her car seat when Usher’s OMG came on. Her little legs were bouncing along to the beat. Gotta love it!

I wake-up everyday looking forward to the joy my Little Dancing Diva brings to my life.

Moms are busy all day chasing around their kids, taking care of their husbands, feeding the family pet and maybe doing something for herself. There are times during the day I’m happy to have a potty break by myself.

We run around all day talking about how busy we are, but at the end of the day we feel as if we never really accomplished anything. 

Often, we are very active, but not productive. 

When we do have a free moment, we are often wasting our time. Simple time-wasting activities can be productive if we change our approach.

What are you busy doing?

Focus on producing, it makes you feel good and creates the things that you want in life.  You will get things done and achieve your goals.

Teach your family to value time and enjoy every breath God gives you.

And when your husband is home, take that potty break by yourself you so richly deserve.

My 4-year-old son is an artist. Throughout our house his art work is displayed. We have original drawings of houses taped to our dining room wall. In our living room, we have a beautiful rendition of Christmas trees. He has a wonderful imagination.

I love his creativity. For Christmas I asked my mother-in-law for an easel as a gift for him. The reviews are not so great for the easels that look great and have everything I want. Plus, my husband hates toys that clutter. I’m sure he will love the kitchen my family purchased for our kids.

Two years ago, I bought my then 2-year-old son a pair of velcro etnies for Christmas.

Not exactly the Christmas gift every boy dreams of, but I loved them. The shoes were black with a red outlined E. His shoes looked great on him.

He was able to wear the etnies for two years. The velcro made it easy for an independent toddler to get his shoes on and off all by himself.

This year I plan on purchasing brown etnies for my son. Last year I looked everywhere for a pair, but was unable to find his size.  Brown must be a popular color for boys shoes.

I have never been a big fan of wearing athletic shoes with your clothes, but I have always loved the look of etnies with jeans.
