I love this strapless hi-low gown from White House Black Market. If you have beautiful legs but don’t want to bare them in the winter cold, this theatrical, asymmetrical skirt with hidden pockets is a great alternative. A slim-fitting bodice artfully holds you in from all those wonderful holiday meals. What girl doesn’t want a little help holding it all together? Add a splash of color and feistiness by wearing this pink cocktail ring. Beautiful, fun and feisty.
Dear Husband, I love this bedroom. It’s romantic and everything I dreamt of as a little girl. Yes, it does need some color. Gray walls will be replaced with a pleasing shade of purple. Purple is the color of royalty. Purple connotes luxury, wealth, and sophistication. It is also feminine and romantic. The linens and accessories will be a shade of violet with splashes of yellow. I know it’s feminine but seriously, what married man cares what the bedroom looks like. To him it’s only purpose is for two things sleeping and sex. So now you know. Let me rest my pretty little head in this girly room. Treat me like a princess and I will treat you as a king. Love, Me
My 4-year-old son is an artist. Throughout our house his art work is displayed. We have original drawings of houses taped to our dining room wall. In our living room, we have a beautiful rendition of Christmas trees. He has a wonderful imagination. I love his creativity. For Christmas I asked my mother-in-law for an easel as a gift for him. The reviews are not so great for the easels that look great and have everything I want. Plus, my husband hates toys that clutter. I’m sure he will love the kitchen my family purchased for our kids. Frustrated, I checked out amazon and saw the Crayola Glow Dome. We have the Crayola 3-D Chalk and my son loves it. Overall, I am very happy with Crayola products. The Crayola Glow Dome description: With various light and rotation settings, the Crayola Color Explosion Glow Dome brings drawings to life...
Holidays are always stressful. Whether it’s trying to find the perfect gift, fighting the crowds and rude people, or unfortunately the lack of spending money, you are sure to find a moment of frustration. Here are a few things you can do to help ease your way through any stressful situation. Be cheerful. It deflates other stress and anxiety. Be flexible. Don’t stress when expectations are not met. Push away negativity of any kind. Think happy thoughts and count your blessings. Silence your phone at night. Sing Christmas carols with your kids. Have a date night with your honey instead of checking your BlackBerry. Give yourself "me" time. Eat right and exercise, it will do wonders for your mood. Drink healthy White Teas from Teavana and cuddle up in your favorite blanket. Laugh and smile more often. Remember you can only change yourself. Kiss someone. Smooching unleashes chemicals...
Two years ago, I bought my then 2-year-old son a pair of velcro etnies for Christmas. Not exactly the Christmas gift every boy dreams of, but I loved them. The shoes were black with a red outlined E. His shoes looked great on him. He was able to wear the etnies for two years. The velcro made it easy for an independent toddler to get his shoes on and off all by himself. This year I plan on purchasing brown etnies for my son. Last year I looked everywhere for a pair, but was unable to find his size. Brown must be a popular color for boys shoes. I have never been a big fan of wearing athletic shoes with your clothes, but I have always loved the look of etnies with jeans. On the etnies website, you can Build and customize your own etnies shoes.Making a customized pair...
James Patterson calls The Murder of King Tut: The Plot to Kill the Child King – A Nonfiction Thriller. Why did he decide to go the nonfiction route? Patterson claims to have always been curious about the short life of the young Pharaoh Tutankhamen. He wanted to try to solve the mystery surrounding Tut’s death with actual facts. But did he? Patterson presents his thesis stating King Tutankhamen was murdered by his half-sister and wife Ankhesenpaaten, his vizier Ay and his general Horemheb. Patterson believes Tut was murdered because of the power grab desired by these three individuals. Tut and Ankhesenpaaten had two still-born children with no male heir to the throne leaving Ankesenpaaten, Ay and Horemheb to reign after Tut. Patterson wrote the novel in three distinctive parts all interwoven with one another. These short, easy-to-read chapters breeze between Tut’s life and death, the discovery of Tut’s tomb...
The holidays are here and that means one thing, dry Winter weather. Winter weather dries out your skin, eyes, lips and hair. Why? Because the air lacks moisture. I live in Florida where it is humid. As soon as Winter rolls around, there is a noticeable change in the air. A lack of moisture leads to dry, brittle hair. Your scalp has fewer natural oils, making your hair thirsty and prone to breakage. So what can you do? Maintaining healthy, shiny hair begins with a good trim. Keeping your ends trimmed and split end free will reduce breakage. You should have your hair trimmed at least every eight weeks. Purchase shampoo and conditioner for dry hair or extra moisturizing formulas. When rinsing your hair, use cold water. By using cold water, you help your hair lock-in moisture. When you comb your hair after a shower, use a wide-toothed comb....
Many of us suffer from deep pores. Unfortunately, the pores become clogged leading to unsightly blackheads and acne. Often we use drug store products that pull-out blackheads, but do nothing to shrink pores or eliminate blackheads. We’ve all looked at the nose strip full of blackheads wishing there was a way to keep new ones from appearing. For years I have used Biore’s nose strips hoping to unclog my pores. A few days later, the same pores would be clogged again with unsightly blackheads, Yuck! After I used my free samples from Mario Badescu, I purchased the Acne Control Kit and Silver Powder. The Silver Powder is an oil absorbent powder that unclogs pores and eliminates blackheads. The Silver Powder directions seemed too simple. All I did was dip a damp cotton ball in the powder and press it on my nose, chin and forehead. 10 minutes passed by...
Last night I watched the 2009 CMA awards. I used to be a country music disc jockey and still enjoy watching the show. I admit I watch other award shows only for the fashion. Otherwise, I could care less who wins. Carrie Underwood is always dressed beautifully for award shows. I always look forward to seeing what she is wearing. Last night Carrie had on this beautiful gold and lavender gown on. I loved it. I would wear it in a heartbeat. Thanks Carrie for always wearing inspiring fashion.
Keeping red hair a vibrant hue is difficult. It is the fastest color to fade. I recently dyed my hair from golden blond, to a rich radiant auburn. I love it! I have green eyes and fair skin. The red really makes my eyes pop. I changed my hair color for several reasons. I have long hair and refuse to cut it. An easy way to change the look, color it. Voila! New style. I also switched colors as a way to save money in this down economy. No visible re-growth means fewer trips to the salon. Cha-Ching! My wonderful stylist Brooke did an amazing job. When I went in for the transformation, the lady at the station next to me was questioning my choice of going red. I wasn’t worried, I was excited. Brooke wanted to surprise me and not show my new hair until everything was finished....
Two weeks ago, my husband decided he was no longer consuming cow, chicken or turkey. Why? He said he needed more brain food. Okay, no hamburgers or steak. I was heartbroken. I’m from the wild west where we eat our New York Strips and are damn proud of it. But, being the supporting, loving wife that I am, I decided to sacrifice eating red meat. When I was younger and gave up red meat, I became really sick and thin. Now that I am older, who knows? I still need to loose baby weight, so I am willing to give red meat again. Then I discovered he was not consuming milk, cheese, yogurt, eggs or any dairy products. Coming from a man who lived on cheese I was shocked. Shocked I tell you. We’ve been drinking soy milk for two weeks. The smell gags me and I don’t think...
Nine days. Nine short days and my free samples from Mario Badescu arrived. I have to admit, I was skeptical. I read on other sites that some people never received samples. And for others it took up to six weeks for their samples to arrive. Last night I tried the products. They were amazing. My face still feels clean and soft this morning: not bumpy, dirty and oily. Here are the samples I received just for filling out the skin questionnaire: Mario Badescu Skin Care Can Bring You Beautiful Skin I’m going to give the products a week and see which ones work the best for me. If the products work as well as promised, I am sure I will be ordering from their website. What kind of Skin Care Mario Badescu Skin Care fits you best? My sister recently purchased Mario Badescu’s Acne Repair Kit. All the girls in Ulta were raving about how great the kit was. I was sure I had to try it. A week later, I made a trip to my local Ulta looking to buy the repair kit. While standing in the aisle trying to keep my 4-year-old and 5-month-old entertained, another girl, Leslie, was stocking up on Mario Badescu’s products. Leslie said she was getting married in four months and wanted to put her best face forward. She had tried Dermalogica, but thought the products were over-priced. She recently discovered Mario Badescu and loved the products. Then she told me a little secret. Go to Mario Badescu’s website and you can get free samples of products. I looked every where on the website for the free sample page and could not find it anywhere. Disheartened, I filled out the...
I love to read. I have enjoyed the company of a good book ever since I was a young girl. Mystery and thriller novels are my favorite. I am also an avid reader of political books. I have a young baby, so I am constantly nursing. I have re-found my love of reading during the feedings. Recently, I read James Patterson’s Swimsuit. I could not put the book down. I loved that the novel is written as a non-fiction account of contract serial killer Henri Benoit. Several times throughout the book, I had to remind myself that the book is fiction. The story begins with mysterious abduction of swimsuit model Kim McDaniels. Ben Hawkins, a former cop turned crime reporter for the L.A. Times, is sent to Hawaii to cover the story. Hawkins has no idea that while he has been covering the McDaniels’ story, he has been with...
