Message from the Secretary of Veterans Affairs: Veterans Day 2011
Tomorrow, at the 11th hour, on the 11th day, of the 11th month of 2011, we will pause to honor America’s Veterans and celebrate their contributions to our way of life. Few have given more to our Nation than the men and women who have served in our Armed Forces in peace and in war.
I am privileged to join all my VA colleagues in saluting the service and honoring the sacrifices of the special men and women who walk the halls of our hospitals and clinics, offices and Vet Centers each day. God bless our Veterans. And may God continue to bless this wonderful country of ours.
Eric K. Shinseki
My Rays of Sunshine is asking for you to spend a moment of your time to remember our men and women who have honorably served in the United States Armed Forces this Veteran’s Day. My grandfather proudly served during World War II and is one of the biggest inspirations in my life.
If you have an opportunity, please try to visit a V.A. Hospital and spend time with our heroes. They really appreciate your time. My grandfather was in a V.A. Hospital for many years and my grandmother used to volunteer at the V.A. Hospital after his death. I know first hand how much our Veteran’s truly appreciate a visit.
If you are unable to visit a hospital and you would like another way to support our troops please consider Any Soldier. Any Soldier makes it easy to send care packages to our troops serving overseas. I love Any Soldier’s easy database to find a troop and pack a care package with specific items our troops need.
My Rays of Sunshine would like to say to our Veteran’s and active duty Armed Forces, “Thank you! We proudly salute and honor you.”
